A sand mandala has been on display at the Gangjian Art Center in Beijing, the capital of China.

It took two Tibetan monks of Tashilhunpo Monastery half a month to finish the mandala. The exhibition will run until October.

Mandala, an exquisite religious art of Tibetan Buddhism, usually depicts Buddhas and stupas with colored sand made from grounded minerals.

In 2014, the sand mandala painting was added to China's National Intangible Cultural Heritage List.

"It's a rare chance for visitors to observe the intricate process of making a sand mandala. We hope to introduce traditional Tibetan culture to Beijing and the rest of the country in a contemporary art form," said Xu Chengcheng, the curator.
